Her journey, spanning nearly six years, is a testament to how passion, persistence, and a supportive environment can create incredible career progression.
A Career Built on Progression
Cheryl joined Moorview Care in February six years ago as a support worker, embracing a role that demanded compassion and dedication. After just one year, she advanced to a senior position, followed by a nearly three-year tenure as a team leader. Reflecting on her time in these roles, Cheryl shares:
“I got to see the area progress quite a lot during my time in that locality. I don’t like to stay still in terms of my progression. I always like to do something new, be developing.”
Her passion for growth didn’t stop there. Cheryl’s favorite part of being a team leader was helping her team flourish:
“My favorite part was developing the team—seeing how they progressed and how they could improve.”
Falling in Love with Care
For Cheryl, working in the care sector was more than a job—it was a calling. She explains how she "fell in love" with the role and found immense satisfaction in supporting both the individuals in her care and her colleagues.
But her journey didn’t stop at team leadership. Cheryl’s interest in teaching and training inspired her to set her sights on Moorview Care’s training team. When the opportunity arose, she embraced it wholeheartedly:
“I had my eyes on developing into the training department and just waited for that opportunity to present itself. I took a shot and hoped for the best. That’s how I’ve ended up in the training team, and it’s been amazing.”
A Supportive Environment for Growth
Cheryl highlights the incredible support she received throughout her career progression. From interview preparation to daily encouragement, Moorview Care provided her with the tools and confidence to succeed:
“If I needed any help, everyone offered me ideas and suggestions and gave me great feedback on how to improve. It’s a very supportive company, and there are lots of opportunities out there.”
Focused on Excellence
Now in her role as Learning & Development Officer, Cheryl is committed to mastering her craft:
“This is new to me, and it’s a new challenge. My focus right now is improving my own knowledge and skills so that I can be the best trainer I can be. If things crop up in the training room, I want to be able to answer questions the best I can.”
For now, Cheryl is enjoying her current role and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of her colleagues and the people Moorview Care supports. As she puts it:
“I’m just happy where I am right now. I’m not really looking for the next step for once, so that’s quite nice.”
