Celebrating 25 Years of Moorview Care: A Legacy of Compassion and Innovation

This year, Moorview Care proudly celebrates 25 years of delivering exceptional, person-centred support to autistic adults and individuals with learning disabilities. From its humble beginnings to becoming a leading name in social care, Moorview Care has remained steadfast in its mission to enable, empower, and enrich the lives of those it serves. This milestone is not just an opportunity to reflect on past achievements but also a moment to reaffirm our commitment to shaping the future of social care.

From Small Beginnings to Transformative Growth

Founded in 1999 with just two care homes and a team of 15, Moorview Care has grown into a robust organisation supporting more than 50 individuals across 17 locations in North Yorkshire and the Humber. Today, our team of over 300 dedicated professionals provides high-quality care, empowering people to live fulfilling lives in their communities.

Our growth has been organic, guided by the principles of co-production and person-centred care. From creating bespoke living environments to implementing innovative training programs like Moorview Mentors, the voices of those we support have always been central to our journey.

A Year of Reflection and Celebration

To mark our silver anniversary, we’re reflecting on the core values that have guided our success: trust, kindness, respect, collaboration, learning, and leadership. These values have not only shaped our internal culture but also enabled us to make a meaningful impact on the wider social care sector.

This milestone year will be filled with celebratory events and initiatives to honour our past and inspire our future. Highlights include:

  • Team and Client Celebrations: From festive gatherings to sharing stories, we’ll celebrate the contributions of everyone who has been part of our journey.

  • Community Engagement: Collaborating with local organisations to showcase the importance of social care and foster stronger community ties.

  • Acknowledging Achievements: Recognising the dedication of our team, clients, and advocates through awards and commemorative activities.

Advocating for Change

While this is a time of celebration, it’s also a moment to spotlight the challenges the social care sector faces. Recent changes in government policy, including the increase in National Insurance contributions, have placed additional strain on providers. Moreover, long-term funding reform for adult social care is not expected until 2028—a timeline that Moorview Care’s CEO, Julie Wells-Colley, describes as deeply concerning.

“Social care has been critically underfunded for many years,” Julie explains. “While we welcome the government’s commitment to reform, waiting another five years for solutions is not viable for many providers or the people they support. We need immediate action to ensure the sustainability of high-quality care.”

Looking Ahead: Building a Brighter Future

As we celebrate 25 years of Moorview Care, we’re also looking to the future. Our award-winning co-production group, Moorview Matters, continues to shape the way we deliver care, ensuring that the voices of those we support drive innovation and excellence. We’re investing in training, digital tools like our bespoke MVCX platform, and new service models to meet the evolving needs of our communities.

Most importantly, we remain dedicated to our mission: to support people in developing their self-esteem, gaining independence, and living gloriously ordinary lives. As we step into the next 25 years, we do so with optimism, resilience, and a deep sense of purpose.
