Black History Month: Saluting Our Sisters in Social Care

Black History Month: Support Worker Favour tells her story

Black History Month is celebrated every year in October in the UK. It provides an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the invaluable contributions of Black people to our society. #SalutingOurSisters is this year's theme and aims to highlight the crucial role that Black women have played in shaping history, inspiring change and building communities.

At Moorview Care, it is our aim to ensure all of our team are treated equally, feel included and valued, and are supported to stay well and pursue their careers in Social Care. This month the People & Culture Team have been shining a spotlight on our resources to support equality, diversity and inclusivity in the workplace, by way of a brand new Language Guide which is coming soon (keep an eye out for our Language Guide blog over the coming months). Our Language Guide will cover a variety of things including Race, Ethnicity, Heritage and Nationality.

We spoke to Favour, a Support Worker in our Whitby Team, about her journey with Moorview Care so far. Favour is from East Nigeria and she talks about how Moorview Care are inclusive employer and her experience with us thus far.
